{cooking} up a storm

ah yes, blogging. i think i've almost forgotten what that is (sorry!).

you see, i've been cooking. cooking up a storm. it's a pretty spectacular recipe, and this bun needs to be in the oven for 9 long months. i'm loving every second, soaking it all up. now, never fear, i'm not going to go all, you know, maternal on you, but i might just go missing every now and again. sporadic is a word i feel comfortable with right now.

and in the meantime, i'll leave you with some very cute things.
things my paypal account won't thank me for.
but the new addition might!

baby bear hat (this one kills me. totally)

fitzwilliam darcy the second

...and puppy makes three! everyone, i'd like you to meet fitzwilliam darcy the second.

we picked him up from the RSPCA (animal welfare centre) yesterday. we thought we'd just "go and look" and there he was. who knows where he came from, or what his past was like. but now he's ours...

he's got a cute little face, and long, athletic legs. he's skinny, but they say that's the stress of being at the shelter. he's still a bit nervous around us, but he loves our backyard.

and his name? we'll call him Fitzy, and I hope he'll grow into the confident and handsome man that he was named after!

(i'm thinking of naming all our dogs after jane austen characters... Captain Wentworth could be next!! my husband thinks i'm crazy. what do you think?!)

The Adventure :: in pictures

it's tough coming home from a long holiday, non? you've seen so many amazing things. you've spent all that money. it's nice to sleep in your own bed again, but there's still bags to unpack, mail to sort. And photos... all those thousands of photos to look through.

its taken me a while, but i thought i might share a few highlights of our trip...
aka The Adventure

it all started with the planes, which is where i realised how far away Australia really is from the rest of the world... oh i thought i was ready! but have you ever met any one who is truly ready for the horror that is a long haul flight?? i'm sad to admit the "barf" bag was my best friend on that trip...

what's your horror flight story??

a new year...

bonjour!

 & happy new year!

how did you see in the new year? josh & i were on the radio for new years eve, with a special request show. we partied with the whole of brisbane!

but 2010, oh am i happy to see you! 2009 sent a lot of challenges my way, but 2010 just has that lovely even ring to it, and feels a lot like a clean slate. i am looking forward to a lot of things this year...

... The Adventure : Chicago-New York-London-Paris-Rome. Say no more!!

... some good food (and hopefully some of it home grown!)

... a chance for me NOT to fill my every waking minute with something/someone. i need to bring quality, not quantity, into my diary...

... some refreshment. a chance to stop and just think about my life ahead. i want to be a better wife, a more caring friend, a cleaner house-wife, and a more faithful follower.

... and maybe a bit more time to play that piano of mine.

so, here's to 2010. i hope you're looking forward to something promising this year!

a start

Welcome!
a first blog, so full of potential... But where to start? so much to say, yet how to say it?! so i take a leaf from Maria's book. let's start at the very beginning...

the truth? i wouldn't be in this blog-world if it wasn't for some amazing inspiration from some amazing people! why wouldn't you want to be a part of it all? dozi started it all off (with her paper flower tutorial - love it!)- and soon followed ink & spindle, daily imprint & the happy home.

the reason? people being inspired and inspiring. being creative & sharing about creative people they've met. being real, about life and all the adventures that go along with it. oh yes, i wanna be part of that!

so!... what shall i bring to the table? here i feel i will fall far short of those who inspired me in the beginning. but i'm not fazed! it's not my full-time job to make things, or talk about things, or write about things, or design things. but i love doing all these things!

i can sew (thanks mum!)
i can cook (thanks mum!)
i can read.
i can design, i can decorate (or at least try to!).
i can dream.
and i guess, most importantly... i can laugh when i make mistakes and feel a little chuffed when i succeed! that's what it's all about, hey?!

so maybe in this little journey that is my blog, i'll post about all these things.
just things that are happening in my life...
...things i'm making, cooking, sewing, dreaming of, being inspired by...
...things of life.

welcome aboard to a cup of kitsch... i hope it puts a little smile on your face!
