fitzwilliam darcy the second

...and puppy makes three! everyone, i'd like you to meet fitzwilliam darcy the second.

we picked him up from the RSPCA (animal welfare centre) yesterday. we thought we'd just "go and look" and there he was. who knows where he came from, or what his past was like. but now he's ours...

he's got a cute little face, and long, athletic legs. he's skinny, but they say that's the stress of being at the shelter. he's still a bit nervous around us, but he loves our backyard.

and his name? we'll call him Fitzy, and I hope he'll grow into the confident and handsome man that he was named after!

(i'm thinking of naming all our dogs after jane austen characters... Captain Wentworth could be next!! my husband thinks i'm crazy. what do you think?!)

He looks like he was meant to be in that yard, and in your family. I'm with you about names. Jane Austen, Jane Eyre, Wuthering Heights...maybe Heathcliffe!!! LOL....Terese

Well Fitzwilliam Darcy is all the better for having been adopted by you! I love Jane Austen and have a friend who has two dogs, one called Mr. Darcy and one called Mr. Bingley.

I LOVE your idea of naming your dogs based on Jane Austen characters. I have a puppy on the way, she is now 6 weeks old and will be with me in 2 weeks, and I can not think of a good name for her! I wanted to name her after my favourite writer Dorothy Parker but Dorothy isn't a great name for a dog :0(

Fitzwilliam Darcy, that's a fantastic name for a dog. Big smile. I love it! Yes, it is quite a lot to live up to, but if anyone can it would be man's best friend.

You can't be crazy about the dog names, because they're perfect. Women adore them and guys have no idea what they mean so they won't think they're weird. Perfect!

How adorable! And it's a wonderful thing to adopt an animal from a shelter.
